  46. Before installing the CITIZEN DRIVER for Microsoft Windows 3.0,
  47. please read the information on the README.TXT file that comes with
  48. the driver.  One easy way is to type the file to your computer
  49. screen.  For example, to see the contents of this file, enter the
  50. folowing at the DOS prompt:
  51.  
  52.      C:\   TYPE  README.TXT
  53.  
  54. If the screen begins to scroll too fast, press the PAUSE key.  
  55. Press ENTER to resume scrolling.
  56.  
  57. Or else, you can simply enter:

  59.     C:\    README
  60.  
  61. All the information you need to install the Citizen Driver can be
  62. found in Chapter 5 of your Windows User's Guide, starting on page
  63. 162.  The instructions are generic, and apply to any driver that you
  64. might want to install in Windows.

  71.          * * *  DETAILED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS * * *

  73. STEP 1:   To install the Driver, you first need to load the
  74.           Windows program.
  75.  
  76. STEP 2:   Double-click on MAIN.
  77.  
  78. STEP 3:   Double-click on CONTROL PANEL.
  79.  
  80. STEP 4:   Double-click on PRINTERS.
  81.  
  82. STEP 5:   You are now in the Printers menu. Click once on Add
  83.           Printer.
  84.  
  85. STEP 6:   Under List of Printers, click on and hold the down
  86.           arrow to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list
  87.           to Unlisted Printer.
  88.  
  89. STEP 7:   Highlight Unlisted Printer.
  90.  
  91. STEP 8:   Click on Install.
  92.  
  93. STEP 9:   The Add Unlisted Printer menu appears.  Put your
  94.           Citizen Driver disk into your A Drive.
  95.  
  96. STEP 10:  Highlight the letter A in the Directories box.  
  97.  
  98. STEP 11:  Click on OK.  The CITIZEN.DRV file should appear in the
  99.           Driver Files box.

  101. STEP 12:  Highlight CITIZEN.DRV.
  102. STEP 13:  Click on OK.
  103.  
  104. STEP 14:  After a couple of seconds, the Printers menu will
  105.           return.  You should see the following in the Installed
  106.           Printers box:
  107.  
  108.               CITIZEN Dot Matrix on NONE, Inactive.
  109.  
  110. STEP 15:  Now, click on Configure.
  111.  
  112. STEP 16:  In the Printers - Configure menu, under Ports,
  113.           highlight LPT1: or your correct printer port.
  114.  
  115. STEP 17:  Click on Setup.
  116.  
  117. STEP 18:  The next menu displayed will be titled CITIZEN 200GX on
  118.           LPT1:
  119.  
  120. STEP 19:  If your Citizen printer is not a 200GX, then you need
  121.           to change this default.  Click on Options.
  122.  
  123. STEP 20:  In the CITIZEN Dot Matrix - Options menu, click on the
  124.           printer name in the Printer Type box, to get a pull-
  125.           down menu.
  126.  
  127. STEP 21:  Highlight your Citizen printer by model name.
  128.  
  129. STEP 22:  If your computer is a 386, running in Enhanced Mode,
  130.           please click on the Burst-Print Mode box to remove the
  131.           X from the box, and to disable the Burst Mode.

  133. STEP 23:  And now, click on OK.
  134.  
  135. STEP 24:  You should now be in the previous menu, with your own
  136.           Citizen printer's name as the menu title.
  137.  
  138. STEP 25:  Make sure to check the other driver defaults such as
  139.           Color Mode.  Click on the down arrow under Monochrome,
  140.           then highlight Color.
  141.  
  142. STEP 26:  Verify the selected Resolution, Print Margins, Paper
  143.           Size and Orientation, and change, if necessary.
  144.  
  145. STEP 27:  When you are done, click on OK.
  146.  
  147. STEP 28:  In the Printers - Configure menu, click on OK.
  148.  
  149. STEP 29:  This puts you in the Printers menu.  Be sure to
  150.           highlight the CITIZEN Driver in the Installed Printers
  151.           box, and click on Active in the Status box.

  153. STEP 30:  Finally, click on OK to save the whole thing.

  175. To learn how to properly configure the driver to take maximum
  176. advantage of Windows 3.0 and your Citizen Printer, click on the "Help"
  177. button.

  180.  
  181. The Citizen Printer Driver contains an extensive HELP file.  Since
  182. the HELP file is accessed with the Windows 3.0 HELP system, you can
  183. use the many HELP features described in Chapter 2 of the Windows
  184. User's Guide.

  186. To use HELP, click on the HELP button from any of the Dialog Boxes.
